FCT Minister Urges Residents To Protect Their Environment

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, has called on residents of the territory to jealously protect their environment and make it healthier to live in.
Bello made the appeal on Monday when he received a delegation from the Change Vision Nigeria Group, led by Mr Tunde Imolehin, who visited him in his office in Abuja.
“The protection of the environment is a duty that must be carried out by all and sundry to make it more amiable for human habitation; it is our collective heritage.
“The Change Vision Nigeria Group is a passionate advocate of the protection of the environment and this one of the areas that has endeared me to your Group,” he said.
According to Bello, FCT residents have the advantage of having a city that has been planned from the scratch, a city that with commitment of all, can be made to compete with other top cities globally.
The minister noted that there were enough resources in Abuja, the weather was pretty good and the rainfall pattern was also excellent.
“So there is no reason why we cannot make this city green and beautiful.’’
Bello affirmed that the FCT Administration would continue to support any initiative aimed at protecting the environment.
“I will like to discuss more on the change garden concept because I think we have a lot of gardens here at various locations in the Federal Capital City.
“We will like to serve as a model of what a real garden should truly be,” he said.
The minister assured that the administration would partner very closely with the group to further develop Parks and Gardens within the city and pledged his unalloyed support to the forthcoming Abuja Business Forum.
Speaking earlier, Imolehin said Group was established in 1996 with the vision to make everyone a change agent in Nigeria.
Imolehin, who lauded the minister’s style of leadership, said the group was in his office to intimate him on the forthcoming Abuja Business Forum scheduled for May 18, 2017.
